Last week drivers and pedestrians in Spokane were surprised at the new "bird flipping" don't walk signal that had appeared on one of the Eastern Washington town's street crossings.
This new signal was not a Spokane experiment in search of a replacement for the raised hand universal signal to stop.
What it was was an electronic malfunction due to snow, in which all the hand's fingers, except for the middle one and thumb were missing.
Which took awhile for Spokane city workers to get around to fixing, due to the need to get snow off Spokane's roads being a more important priority.
In the meantime Spokane drivers and walkers were greeted with an obscene gesture that likely had some Spokanians amused, some perplexed and maybe one or two greatly offended.

The Seven Wonders of Spokane Washington

I did not know that Spokane had its own famous Dick's burger. Or that the famous Spokane Dick's burger was the #1 Wonder of Spokane.
The next time I pass through the Capital of the Inland Empire I must seek out a Dick's burger.
I think I have seen only 1 of the other Seven Wonders of Spokane, that being Spokane Falls, which was not falling very much the last time I saw it.
Watch the video below so you can learn what Seven Wonders of Spokane you need to visit the next time you are in that part of Eastern Washington...

Seattle is Not One of the Fattest Cities in America

Such is the case with a list of the 100 Fattest Cities in America in the current Men's Health Magazine.
Men's Health factored in the number of overweight people, the number of coach potatoes, the percentage with Type 2 Diabetes and junk food consumption to come up with a list of 100 that had Corpus Christi, Texas as the Fattest City in America.
Four other Texas towns joined Corpus Christi in the Top Ten, El Paso, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston.
Austin, Texas was almost as skinny as Seattle as the 5th Leanest City, with Seattle being the 4th Leanest.
Other Fat Northwest Cites were #35 Anchorage, #58 Spokane and #76 Boise.
